Oreo Cinnamon Rolls
Servings: 12 rolls
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (about 10 cookies)
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
1-2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined to form a soft dough. Do not overmix.
On a flour-dusted surface, roll out the dough into a 12x9-inch rectangle.
In a small bowl, mix together the crushed Oreo cookies, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Spread the softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the Oreo mixture evenly on top.
Starting at one of the long edges, tightly roll up the dough into a log and pinch the seam to seal.
Cut the log into 12 equal slices and place them cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling the icing over the top. Serve warm.
Variations & Tips
If you have picky eaters at home, try substituting the crushed Oreos with mini chocolate chips or even a cinnamon-sugar mixture for a more traditional flavor. For a fun twist, add a handful of chopped nuts or dried fruits to the filling. You can also make these rolls extra special by using flavored Oreos, like peppermint or birthday cake, to match different occasions or preferences.
