Low Carb Maple BBQ Hasselback Kielbasa Bites
Servings: 6
Ingredients
1 large kielbasa sausage
1/4 cup low carb maple syrup
1/4 cup sugar-free BBQ sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Toothpicks
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cut the kielbasa into 1-inch thick slices, then make several cuts across the top of each slice to create a hasselback effect. Be careful not to cut all the way through.
In a small bowl, mix together the low carb maple syrup, sugar-free BBQ sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper until well combined.
Place the kielbasa slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Brush the sauce mixture generously over each kielbasa slice, making sure to get the sauce into the cuts.
Secure each slice with a toothpick to help keep its shape while baking.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the kielbasa is heated through and the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Variations & Tips
If you're cooking for a crowd or have kids with different tastes, you can easily customize these Kielbasa Bites. Try using different flavors of BBQ sauce or adding a bit of heat with some cayenne pepper or hot sauce. For a more indulgent version, sprinkle some shredded cheddar cheese over the top during the last 5 minutes of baking. You can also try using turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter twist.
