Cooktop Cove: This crispy recipe is a hit, even with the pickiest eaters!
By Georgia Lynn
There's something about the aroma of warm cinnamon and sugar that just feels like a hug from the past. When I was a little girl growing up in the heartland, these crispy cinnamon sugar pretzel sticks were a weekend treat that Grandma used to bake. She would often tell stories of how her mother, back in the late 1800s, would make a similar version to keep the family happy during those long Midwest winters. These pretzel sticks are perfect for when you want something sweet yet simple, bringing with them the nostalgia of simpler times and the comfort of home.
These lovely cinnamon sugar pretzel sticks pair beautifully with a steaming mug of cocoa or a tall glass of cold milk, bringing back those cherished memories of childhood treats. For a more sophisticated pairing, try serving them alongside a warm apple cider or a spiced tea. They also make for a delightful addition to a dessert board, adding both texture and a touch of sweetness.

Add the cinnamon sugar: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the buttered pretzels, tossing as you go to coat them evenly.
Bake: Spread the coated pretzel sticks in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake the pretzels: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the sugar has caramelized slightly and the pretzels are crispy.
Cool and enjoy: Let the pretzel sticks cool for a few minutes before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a fun variation, you can dip the cinnamon sugar pretzel sticks in melted chocolate or drizzle white chocolate over them after they cool for an extra indulgent treat. You could also experiment with adding a pinch of nutmeg or pumpkin spice to the cinnamon sugar mix for a seasonal twist. For a lighter version, swap the butter with cooking spray, and reduce the sugar amount to suit your taste. If you prefer a more intense cinnamon flavor, add an extra half teaspoon of cinnamon. Make sure to store the pretzels in an airtight container to maintain their crispness for a few days.
