Cooktop Cove: We lovingly named it 'Amish Farmhouse Feast' because it’s everyone’s go-to dinner request.
By Morgan Reed
Amish meatloaf casserole is a comforting dish that brings together the hearty flavors of a traditional meatloaf with the convenience of a casserole. This dish is rooted in the rich culinary traditions of the Amish, known for their simple yet flavorful home-cooked meals. It's perfect for those who want to enjoy the classic taste of meatloaf with a twist, making it ideal for family dinners or potlucks. The casserole format not only makes it easy to prepare but also allows for a delightful layering of flavors and textures.
This Amish meatloaf casserole pairs beautifully with a side of creamy mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles. A fresh green salad or steamed green beans can add a nice contrast to the richness of the casserole. For a touch of sweetness, consider serving it with a side of applesauce or a slice of homemade bread with butter.

In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Spread this mixture evenly over the meat layer.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the ketchup layer.
Carefully spread the prepared mashed potatoes over the cheese layer, smoothing it out with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a different flavor profile, you can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef. Adding a layer of sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers between the meat and cheese layers can introduce additional texture and taste. If you prefer a spicier dish, consider mixing some hot sauce into the ketchup topping. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free bread crumbs. You can also experiment with different cheeses, such as mozzarella or pepper jack, to change up the flavor.
