Cooktop Cove: 'Thanksgiving Maple Dreams' is how we describe this beauty—flavorful, tender, and so simple to make!
By Morgan Reed
Maple Dijon Pork Chops are a delightful fusion of sweet and savory flavors, perfect for those who enjoy a touch of gourmet in their home-cooked meals. This dish draws inspiration from the classic pairing of mustard and pork, a combination cherished in many European cuisines. The addition of maple syrup introduces a subtle sweetness that complements the tangy Dijon mustard, creating a harmonious balance. Cooking these pork chops in a slow cooker allows the flavors to meld beautifully while ensuring the meat remains tender and juicy. This recipe is ideal for busy weeknights or leisurely weekends when you want a delicious meal with minimal effort.
These Maple Dijon Pork Chops pair wonderfully with a variety of sides. Consider serving them with creamy mashed potatoes or a hearty wild rice pilaf to soak up the flavorful sauce. For a lighter option, a crisp green salad with a simple vinaigrette or roasted seasonal vegetables would complement the richness of the pork. A side of crusty bread is also a great choice to enjoy every last drop of the sauce.
Slow Cooker Maple Dijon Pork Chops
Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 bone-in pork chops, about 1 inch thick
1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
In a bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and dried thyme.
Place the pork chops in the slow cooker, ensuring they are in a single layer.
Pour the maple Dijon mixture over the pork chops, making sure they are well coated.
Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the pork chops are tender.
Once cooked, remove the pork chops from the slow cooker and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
Optionally, you can thicken the sauce by transferring it to a saucepan and simmering it on the stove for a few minutes.
Variations & Tips
For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture. If you prefer a smokier flavor, try incorporating a tablespoon of smoked paprika. For a more herbaceous note, fresh rosemary or sage can be used in place of thyme. If you have boneless pork chops, they can be used as well, but adjust the cooking time as they may cook faster. For a gluten-free version, ensure the soy sauce is gluten-free or substitute with tamari.
