Cooktop Cove: This dish is always a hit. As soon as I serve it, it's gone!
By Holly Owens
Southern style bacon cheeseburger bombs are a delightful twist on the classic cheeseburger, wrapped in a flaky biscuit dough and baked to crispy perfection. These little bites of joy are perfect for game day, a casual get-together, or a fun family dinner. Growing up in the Midwest, I remember my mom making something similar for our Sunday picnics, and they were always a hit. The gooey cheese, savory bacon, and juicy beef all wrapped up in a crispy shell make these bombs irresistible. Plus, they're super easy to make, which is a lifesaver on busy weeknights!
These bacon cheeseburger bombs pair perfectly with a fresh green salad or some crispy sweet potato fries. If you're hosting a gathering, consider serving them alongside a platter of assorted pickles and dipping sauces like ranch, BBQ, or spicy ketchup. For a more substantial meal, add a side of coleslaw or baked beans to round out the Southern-inspired feast.
Southern Style Bacon Cheeseburger Bombs
Servings: 4-6 servings
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Drain excess fat.
Transfer the cooked beef to a bowl and let it cool slightly. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
Separate the biscuit dough into individual pieces and flatten each piece into a 4-inch round.
Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto the center of each dough round.
Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal, forming a ball.
Place the balls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a spicier kick, add some chopped jalapeños to the beef mixture. You can also experiment with different cheeses like pepper jack or mozzarella. If you're looking for a lighter version, try using turkey bacon and ground turkey instead of beef. For a fun twist, serve these with a variety of dipping sauces like honey mustard or sriracha mayo. To save time, you can prepare the beef mixture a day in advance and store it in the fridge until you're ready to assemble the bombs.
