Root beer float cake is a delightful twist on a classic dessert that brings together the nostalgic flavors of a root beer float in a moist, dense cake form. This recipe is perfect for those who love the sweet, creamy taste of root beer and want to enjoy it in a new way. It's a fun dessert to make for family gatherings or just as a treat to enjoy at home. The use of a bundt pan gives it a beautiful shape, making it a showstopper on any dessert table.
This root beer float cake pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side, enhancing the float experience. For a bit of contrast, consider serving it with a fresh fruit salad or a light, tangy lemon sorbet. A cup of coffee or a glass of cold milk would also complement the cake's rich flavors beautifully.
Root Beer Float Bundt Cake
Servings: 12
Ingredients
1 box yellow cake mix
1 cup root beer
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup root beer for glaze
1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan thoroughly.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, 1 cup of root beer, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until the batter is smooth and well combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan, spreading it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
While the cake is cooling, prepare the glaze by whisking together 1/2 cup of root beer and 1 cup of powdered sugar until smooth.
Once the cake is completely cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
Let the glaze set for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Variations & Tips
For a chocolate twist, use a chocolate cake mix instead of yellow cake mix. You can also add a teaspoon of root beer extract to intensify the root beer flavor. For a bit of crunch, sprinkle chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts over the glaze. If you're feeling adventurous, try adding a scoop of whipped cream on top of each slice for an extra creamy touch.
