Cooktop Cove: There's no better way than my grandma's method for making this! I could enjoy it every morning.
By Morgan Reed
Cheesy scrambled eggs are a delightful twist on the classic breakfast staple. Originating from the simple practice of adding cheese to scrambled eggs for extra flavor and creaminess, this dish has become a beloved comfort food in many households. Perfect for a quick breakfast or a leisurely brunch, cheesy scrambled eggs offer a satisfying meal that is both easy to prepare and delicious. The addition of cheese not only enhances the flavor but also adds a rich, creamy texture that elevates the humble scrambled egg to new heights.
Cheesy scrambled eggs pair wonderfully with a variety of sides. Consider serving them with crispy bacon or sausage for a hearty breakfast. For a lighter option, a fresh fruit salad or sliced avocado complements the richness of the eggs beautifully. Toasted bread or a warm croissant can also be a great accompaniment, providing a satisfying crunch to contrast the creamy eggs. If you're feeling adventurous, try serving them with a side of sautéed spinach or roasted tomatoes for a touch of elegance.
Cheesy Scrambled Eggs
Servings: 2
Ingredients
4 large eggs
1/4 cup of milk
1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
1 tablespoon of butter
Directions
Crack the eggs into a mixing bowl and add the milk, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until the mixture is well combined and slightly frothy.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and add the butter. Allow it to melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
Pour the egg mixture into the skillet. Let it sit undisturbed for a few moments until it begins to set around the edges.
Using a spatula, gently stir the eggs, pushing them from the edges toward the center. Continue to cook and stir until the eggs are mostly set but still slightly runny.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the eggs and gently fold the eggs over the cheese. Cook for another minute until the cheese is melted and the eggs are fully cooked but still soft.
Remove from heat and serve immediately on a warm plate.
Variations & Tips
For a different flavor profile, try using different types of cheese such as Swiss, mozzarella, or pepper jack. You can also add chopped herbs like chives or parsley for a fresh touch. If you're looking for a bit of heat, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the egg mixture. For a more substantial meal, mix in some cooked bacon bits or sautéed mushrooms before adding the cheese.
