Cooktop Cove: Homemade chicken nuggets baked or fried
By Angela Brown
Whether you are trying to save a little money or you want a healthier option for the family, these simple chicken nuggets are sure to be a hit with the kids. Complete with the classic crispy crust, these nuggets from Divas Can Cook are tasty whether you bake them or fry them. Don't forget to check out the video at the end of the article for a tasty honey mustard dipping sauce.
Before you start cooking, grab these ingredients:
 3 medium boneless chicken breasts
5 oz bag of seasoned croutons, crushed
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup all-purpose four
Peanut oil
Salt and pepper
Using a knife of a pair of kitchen shears, cut your chicken breasts into bite sized pieces. Season the chicken with salt and pepper to taste. In a separate bowl, beat one egg until consistent in color and thickness. Crush a bag of seasoned croutons in a plastic bag or food processor and dump them into a medium-sized bowl, and set aside.
Dip each piece of chicken into the flour, wiping off any excess. Next, dip the flour-covered chicken into the egg, coating well. Shake gently to remove excess egg mixture and then coat it with croutons. Repeat this process with all of your chicken bites.
If you want to bake your chicken nuggets, place them on a foil-lined baking sheet (spray a bit of oil on the foil to prevent sticking) and cook them on 450 degrees Fahrenheit for about 5 minutes, flip and bake for another two minutes.
If you want to fry your nuggets, fill a skillet with peanut oil. When the oil is hot, place your nuggets into the oil (in small batches). Cook until browned, flip and allow the other side to cook. When your chicken is finished, remove them from the oil and place them on a napkin-covered dish.
Serve these tasty nuggets with a yummy honey mustard sauce (check out the video for more information) and a side of fruit. This recipe is easy to double or triple if you have a lot of little hungry mouths to feed.
