Cooktop Cove: This recipe is called 'Texas Trash Dip' but I swear it tastes like gold

If you want to impress your friends and family with a tasty side for your next get together, this Texas "trash" beef and bean dip is a smart choice! Stuffed full of tasty ingredients like beans, beef, cheese and onions, it packs a punch in the flavor department, without wasting hours of your precious time.
While the traditional Texas Trash dip does not have beef, this recipe adds ground beef to make the a more hearty option for colder game days. As an added bonus: the addition of cream cheese makes this dish extra creams.

Slow cooker Texas Trash Dip
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes
Serves: 8
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
2 (16-oz.) cans refried beans
8 ounces Colby Jack cheese, shredded and divided
1 (7-oz) can fire-roasted green chiles, drained
1 (8-oz.) pkg. cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup sour cream (plus more for serving)
1 (1-oz.) package taco seasoning
Chips for serving
Directions
1. Cook your ground beef and drain the grease. Pour the drained meat into a slow cooker.
2. Add refried beans, most of your cheese, chilies, cream cheese, sour cream and taco seasoning. Mix well. Use a spatula or a spoon to flatten out the ingredients and top with the rest of your cheese.
3. Cover your slow cooker and heat your dish for 2 hours on high.
4. Serve warm.
Pro tip: After two hours, top your beans and meat with sour cream, olives, and salsa for even more flavor.
