Tuna Noodle Casserole
Ingredients:
12 ounces egg noodles
8 ounces cream cheese
1/4 cup of butter
6.5 ounces mushrooms
2 cloves of minced garlic
1 diced onion
1 diced bell pepper
1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
2.5 cups of milk
1 can of peas, 15 ounces, drained
1 can of tuna, 12 ounces, packed in water
1 teaspoon each of salt and pepper
1 cup of grated sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups of French's Crispy Fried Onions
1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
2. Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, diced onion, and finely diced green pepper. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
4. Stir in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
5. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth.
6. Add the cream cheese to the skillet and stir until it's fully incorporated and the sauce is creamy.
7. Gently fold in the drained tuna, peas, and mushroom pieces. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well.
8. Add the cooked egg noodles to the skillet and stir to combine all the ingredients evenly.
9. Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish.
1o. Sprinkle the sharp cheddar, Parmesan cheese and fried onions over the top of the casserole.
11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the casserole is heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
