French Onion Beef Casserole Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
12 ounces wide egg noodles
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 sliced yellow onion
1 ounce onion soup mix
3 cups beef broth
2 cans (10.5 ounces each) condensed French onion soup
6 ounces crispy fried onions
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium-high heat.
2. Add thinly sliced onions and sauté until they become caramelized and golden brown, about 20 minutes.
3. In same pot with onions, brown the ground beef along with onion soup mix, salt and, pepper over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
4, Add the beef broth, egg noodles, and condensed French onion soup. Mix everything well. Make sure the noodles are submerged in the liquid.
5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for about 10-12 minutes, or until the noodles are tender and the mixture has thickened.
6. Remove from heat once done. Sprinkle crispy fried onions before serving.
