Slow Cooker Sausage Stuffing Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 pound breakfast sausage
12 cups dried bread cubes (can be dried overnight)
2 cups chicken stock
2 beaten eggs
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 small diced onion
4 stalks diced celery
2 cloves minced garlic
2 teaspoon each of rosemary and thyme (fresh or dried)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Brown sausage, onion, celery, and garlic in melted butter until sausage is no longer pink and veggies are soft.
2. Add thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper to the skillet, and stir.
3. Place 12 cups of dried bread cubes in a greased slow cooker.
4. Pour sausage mixture and a mixture of 2 cups chicken stock and beaten eggs into the slow cooker. Mix until moistened, adding more stock as needed.
5. Cover with a kitchen towel and lid. Cook on low for 4 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. If too wet after 4 hours, cook uncovered for an additional 30 minutes.
Optionally, garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Note: If desired, you can also add additional ingredients such as dried cranberries, chopped apples, or nuts for extra flavor and texture.
