Sweet Baby Ray's chicken drumsticks are a family favorite around here, especially on crisp autumn evenings when we crave something warm and comforting. Coated in that deliciously sweet and tangy barbecue sauce, these drumsticks are not only quick to prepare but also a surefire way to bring everyone to the dinner table with smiles. This recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or casual family gatherings because it's simple yet incredibly satisfying.
These drumsticks pair wonderfully with classic comfort sides like creamy mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, or a fresh corn on the cob. For a lighter meal, consider serving them with a vibrant mixed greens salad or some roasted vegetables. Don't forget a basket of warm, crusty bread to soak up any extra barbecue sauce!
Baked Sweet Baby Ray's Chicken Drumsticks
Servings: 4
Ingredients
8 chicken drumsticks
1 cup Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a large bowl, toss the chicken drumsticks with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
Arrange the drumsticks on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Remove the drumsticks from the oven and brush a generous amount of Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce over each drumstick.
Return the drumsticks to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and the sauce is caramelized.
Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a spicier kick, add a dash of cayenne pepper or chili powder to the seasoning mix. If you have picky eaters, you can also bake the drumsticks plain with just the basic seasoning, and let everyone add their preferred amount of barbecue sauce at the table. To make this recipe even more hands-off, you can use a slow cooker: place seasoned drumsticks in the slow cooker, cover with barbecue sauce, and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
