Cooktop Cove: Yes yes yes! My hubby asked for this twice this last week!

Big Mac Gyros are a delightful fusion of two beloved foods: the savory Big Mac and the flavorful gyro. Originating from my love for both fast food and Mediterranean cuisine, I wanted to create something that's both unique and easy to put together. Perfect for busy weeknights or fun weekend dinners, these gyros offer a playful twist that your family will surely enjoy.
Big Mac Gyros are quite filling on their own, but they pair wonderfully with a light side salad or some crispy oven-baked fries. You could also serve them with a side of tzatziki sauce for an extra Mediterranean kick or a simple coleslaw for some added crunch.
Big Mac Gyros
Servings: 4
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup dill pickles, chopped
1/2 cup shredded lettuce
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup Big Mac sauce (store-bought or homemade)
4 pita breads or flatbreads
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
2. Season the beef mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the chopped dill pickles and remove from heat.
3. Warm the pita breads or flatbreads in the oven or on a skillet until they are soft and pliable.
4. To assemble the gyros, spread a generous spoonful of Big Mac sauce on each pita bread.
5. Divide the beef mixture evenly among the pitas. Top with shredded lettuce and cheddar cheese.
6. Drizzle a little extra Big Mac sauce on top if desired, then fold the pitas over the filling to create the gyros.
7. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Variations & Tips
If you're looking for a lighter version, you can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. For a vegetarian option, try using a plant-based ground meat substitute. Adding diced tomatoes or sliced red onions can provide extra freshness and flavor. You can also make your own Big Mac sauce by mixing mayonnaise, mustard, pickle relish, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
