Cooktop Cove: This Christmas treat is one my grandma used to make often! Everyone was obsessed!
By McKayla Davis
Kahlua fudge is a delightful treat that combines the rich, smooth flavors of chocolate with a hint of coffee liqueur. This recipe is perfect for those special occasions when you want to impress your friends and family with a homemade dessert that tastes like it came from a fancy chocolatier. The origins of this dish are rooted in the classic American love for fudge, but with a grown-up twist that adds depth and sophistication. It's a great way to bring a little warmth and indulgence to your gatherings, especially during the colder months.
Kahlua fudge pairs beautifully with a hot cup of coffee or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For a festive gathering, consider serving it alongside a platter of fresh fruit or a selection of nuts to balance the sweetness. If you're hosting a party, you can also include it as part of a dessert buffet with other small treats like cookies and brownies. This fudge also makes a lovely gift when wrapped in a pretty box or tin.
Kahlua Fudge
Servings: 16
Ingredients
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup Kahlua or coffee liqueur
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions
1. Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
2. In a medium saucepan, combine the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk over low heat.
3. Stir constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the Kahlua, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
5. If using, fold in the chopped walnuts.
6. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.
8. Once set, lift the fudge out of the dish using the parchment paper overhang and cut into squares.
Variations & Tips
For a non-alcoholic version, you can replace the Kahlua with strong brewed coffee or espresso. If you have picky eaters who aren't fans of nuts, simply omit the walnuts or substitute them with a different mix-in like mini marshmallows or dried cranberries. For a festive touch, sprinkle some sea salt or crushed peppermint candies on top before the fudge sets. You can also experiment with different types of chocolate, such as dark or white, to suit your taste preferences.
