Slow Cooker Amish Chocolate Cobbler
Servings: 6-8 servings
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 3/4 cups hot water
Directions
Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray or butter.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
Stir in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared slow cooker.
In another bowl, mix the brown sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the slow cooker.
Carefully pour the hot water over the top of the mixture in the slow cooker. Do not stir.
Cover and cook on high for 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the top of the cobbler is set and the edges are starting to pull away from the sides of the slow cooker.
Turn off the slow cooker and let the cobbler sit for about 15 minutes before serving. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
Variations & Tips
For a richer flavor, consider adding a handful of chocolate chips to the batter before cooking. You can also experiment with different types of cocoa powder, such as Dutch-processed, for a deeper chocolate taste. If you prefer a nutty twist, sprinkle some chopped walnuts or pecans over the batter before adding the hot water.
