Cooktop Cove: Say hello to Hubby’s Smoky Dream – he says it's like a backyard barbecue party in every bite!
By McKayla Davis
There's something truly comforting about a warm, hearty sandwich that brings everyone together around the table. Slow cooker BBQ beef sandwiches are a staple in our Midwestern home, especially when the weather turns chilly. This dish is perfect for busy days when you want to come home to a meal that's ready to enjoy. The slow cooker does all the hard work, transforming a simple cut of beef into tender, flavorful goodness. It's a dish that reminds me of family gatherings and summer picnics, but it's just as delightful in the fall and winter. Whether you're feeding a crowd or just your family, these sandwiches are sure to be a hit.
These BBQ beef sandwiches pair wonderfully with classic sides like coleslaw or potato salad. If you're looking for something warm, try serving them with baked beans or corn on the cob. A crisp green salad or some roasted vegetables can also balance out the richness of the beef. Don't forget to have some pickles on the side for a little tangy crunch!
Slow Cooker BBQ Beef Sandwiches
Servings: 6
Ingredients
3 pounds beef chuck roast
1 cup BBQ sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
1 onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
6 hamburger buns
Directions
Place the sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
Season the beef chuck roast with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika, then place it on top of the onions and garlic.
In a small bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour this mixture over the beef.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
Once cooked, remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and mix it with the juices and onions.
Serve the BBQ beef on hamburger buns, with extra BBQ sauce if desired.
Variations & Tips
For a spicier kick, you can add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the BBQ sauce mixture. If you have picky eaters, consider serving the beef on slider buns for smaller portions. You can also add a slice of cheese on top of the beef before serving for an extra layer of flavor. For a tangy twist, try mixing in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with the BBQ sauce. If you're short on time, you can cook the beef on high for 4-5 hours instead of low for 8-10 hours.
