Cooktop Cove: So easy and delightful! Nobody could believe these took just 5 mins to prep!
By Holly Owens
Taco Pizza is one of those delightful fusion dishes that brings together the best of two worlds: the comforting, cheesy goodness of pizza and the bold, spicy flavors of a classic taco. I first stumbled upon this idea during a busy weeknight when I couldn't decide between ordering pizza or making tacos for dinner. The result was a hit with my family, and it's been a favorite ever since! Using Crescent dough sheets makes this recipe a breeze, perfect for those hectic days when you want something delicious without spending hours in the kitchen.
Taco Pizza pairs wonderfully with a fresh side salad, perhaps a simple lettuce and tomato mix with a light vinaigrette. For a more indulgent meal, consider serving it with a side of refried beans or Mexican rice. A dollop of sour cream or guacamole on the side can also complement the flavors nicely.
Taco Pizza with Crescent Dough
Servings: 4-6 servings
Ingredients
1 can of Crescent dough sheets
1/2 pound ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
1/2 cup water
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup salsa
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Unroll the Crescent dough sheet onto a baking sheet, pressing the seams together to form a solid crust.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add the taco seasoning and water to the beef, stirring until well combined. Simmer for a few minutes until the mixture thickens.
Spread the salsa evenly over the Crescent dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Distribute the seasoned beef evenly over the salsa.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
Add the black olives, green onions, and tomatoes on top of the cheese.
Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing.
Optional: Add sliced jalapeños and a drizzle of sour cream before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a vegetarian version, substitute the ground beef with black beans or a meatless crumbles alternative. You can also add more veggies like bell peppers or corn for extra flavor and texture. If you prefer a spicier kick, consider using pepper jack cheese instead of cheddar. For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free pizza crust instead of Crescent dough.
