Cooktop Cove: I've prepared this recipe multiple times this month, and it never fails to impress.
By Holly Owens
Floral marshmallow popcorn is a whimsical treat that combines the nostalgic comfort of popcorn with the delicate sweetness of marshmallows. This recipe is inspired by my love for movie nights at home, where a bowl of popcorn is a must-have. The addition of floral hues transforms this simple snack into a delightful centerpiece for any gathering or a fun treat for a cozy night in. It's perfect for those who want to add a touch of elegance to their usual popcorn routine.
Floral marshmallow popcorn pairs beautifully with a light, fruity beverage like a sparkling lemonade or a berry-infused iced tea. For a more indulgent experience, serve it alongside a platter of fresh fruit, such as strawberries and blueberries, to complement the sweet flavors. This treat also makes a charming addition to a dessert table at a party, where it can be enjoyed with other finger foods like mini cupcakes or chocolate-dipped pretzels.
Floral Marshmallow Popcorn
Servings: 8
Ingredients
8 cups popped popcorn
2 cups mini marshmallows
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon rose water
Pink food coloring (optional)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
Prepare a large baking tray by lining it with parchment paper.
In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
Stir in the vanilla extract, rose water, and a few drops of pink food coloring if using. Mix until the color is evenly distributed.
Remove the pot from heat and quickly add the popped popcorn, stirring gently to coat the popcorn evenly with the marshmallow mixture.
Spread the coated popcorn onto the prepared baking tray, using a spatula to create an even layer.
Let the popcorn cool and set for about 20 minutes before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a citrus twist, try adding a few drops of orange or lemon extract instead of rose water. You can also experiment with different food coloring shades to match the theme of your event. If you prefer a less sweet version, reduce the amount of marshmallows and add a handful of dried cranberries or nuts for a crunchy contrast. For a more floral aroma, consider adding a pinch of lavender buds to the melted marshmallow mixture.
