This recipe for 'Honey Sriracha Sticky Slow Cooker Wings' has everything that we crave in a slow cooker dish; it's sweet, tangy, spicy, and innovative--not to mention as easy as it gets! Simply whisk together this superb sticky glaze before pouring it over your chicken wings to produce a meal so delectable, you'll be inundated with requests for the recipe!
Perfect to serve with a side of simple white rice (or pickled Asian vegetables for the adventurous!), this recipe combines the sticky-sweetness of honey with the salty-heat of Sriracha sauce (Thai hot sauce), and the nuttiness of delicate sesame seeds for a plate of wings that you will be hard-pressed to forget!
3lbs (1.36kg) chicken wings
1" piece of ginger, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup sriracha sauce
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup (60mL) soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tsp sesame seeds
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp warm water
(optional) 1 bunch freshly chopped scallions
1. Place the chicken wings into the bottom of a well-greased slow cooker. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the ginger, garlic sriracha, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame seeds and black pepper. Pour over the top of the chicken wings and toss until the wings are well coated in the sauce
2. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 2 hours. 10 minutes before serving, mix the cornstarch with the warm water in a small bowl until smooth and pour into the sticky wing sauce to thicken. Serve with freshly chopped scallions and a sprinkling of sesame seeds.
TIP: If you have any sesame oil on hand, use this to coat the bottom of the slow cooker for an added depth of flavor!
