Cooktop Cove: Dump old coffee grounds on a spare dryer sheet for this simple, clever reason
Running a household can be expensive at times, but it doesn't have to be! You can use products you have at home to deal with every day problems instead of having to buy new products. Try the following DIY solutions instead:
1. DIY insect repellent
To make your home insect-free, mix 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons honey, and 2 tablespoons syrup in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 2 minutes, swirl, and let cool. Cut strips from a paper grocery bag and dip them in the solution. Hang them to dry and then hang outside to make your home bug-free.
2. DIY dishwasher solution
Simply combine 1 cup washing soda, 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup salt and 1/2 cup lemon juice in a large bowl. Pack the mixture into an ice tray, freeze until solid cubes have formed and then store in an air-tight container. Pop the tablets into your dishwasher like you would any store-bought product.
2. Alternative vegetable peeler
Simply use a regular kitchen glass. This method works best for mangos and hard-boiled eggs.
3. Absorb nasty smells
Vomit, soured milk, urine, and other gag-worthy smells can easily be absorbed using two unlikely ingredients. pace a dryer sheet over the cleaned site of the spill and sprinkling coffee grounds atop. Leave the home remedy overnight.
4. Turn an old milk jug into a watering can
Try poking holes in the plastic cap of an empty gallon milk jug and using it as a DIY watering can.
5. Maximize kitchen space
Maximize kitchen space by using magnets to store spices, a curtain rod to store lids and a tension rod to hang cleaning supplies.
