By Matt Jenner
Looking for a fun new treat to make for Easter this year? This chocolate chip cookie dough egg recipe is unique, colorful, and is a great way to bring your kids into the kitchen to decorate the eggs! These sweet treats are chocolate-coated cookie dough, but of course no raw eggs come anywhere near this recipe!
The recipe below makes an eggless chocolate chip cookie dough, but you can use inspiration from your own favorite cookie and make an eggless version of that dough, if you'd like. These snacks are perfect anytime during the spring, and they're great as gifts or on a platter at an outdoor get-together. These will definitely be a big hit, no matter where you serve them!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Eggs

1 hr 20 mins
3/4 cups white flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons milk
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
18 oz. dark chocolate bark
6 oz. white chocolate bark
Food coloring (your choice)
Using a hand mixer or electric mixer, cream together the butter and brown sugar.
Slowly add the flour, vanilla, milk, salt, and powdered sugar, mixing to combine all the ingredients into a dough.
Add chocolate chips to the dough, and stir those in by hand, until there are chips throughout.
Using two spoons or your hands, scoop out approximately 1-inch balls from the dough, and shape them into eggs. Place the eggs on a tray or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Once all the eggs are formed, place the tray in the freezer for at least one hour before you prepare the coating.
When you are ready to prepare the coating, use a bowl to melt the dark chocolate in the microwave. Make sure the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Remove the eggs from the freezer, and fully submerge each egg in the dark chocolate to coat. Allow the excess chocolate to drizzle off, and place back on the parchment paper to dry while you prepare the white chocolate.
While the dark chocolate is hardening, melt the white chocolate in the microwave using another small bowl.
Separate the melted white chocolate into other bowls, depending on how many colors you want to make.
Use the food coloring to get your desired shade of color (about 2-3 drops should be enough).
Using a fork, chopstick, or any other object, drizzle the colored white chocolate over the dark chocolate covered eggs. Shake off the excess, and return the eggs to the fridge for 10 more minutes to harden.
Once hardened from the fridge, they are ready to serve and eat immediately, or to be given as gifts!
Pro-tip: These chocolate-covered eggs can last a while in the fridge, or even longer in the freezer!
