1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ cup ketchup
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
salt and pepper
½ cup dill pickle brunoise
8 thick slices of bread
6 tablespoons butter, softened
8 slices American cheese
Heat the olive oil over high heat in a skillet. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks. When browned, add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, ketchup and mustard, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir in the dill pickles and set the mixture aside.
Butter all the slices of bread on both sides. Put a cheese slice on each one, then evenly divide the sloppy joe mixture over half of the slices. Close the sandwiches.
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each sandwich for 3-4 minutes per side, until the bread is nicely browned and the cheese is melted.
