8 large leaves romaine lettuce, whole
1/3 cup mayonnaise, divided
12 slices deli turkey meat
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 avocado, sliced
Freshly ground black pepper (optional)
Remove the romaine's heart. Wash and dry each leaf.
Place one leaf down on a flat surface, followed by another leaf that mostly overlaps the first one.
Place three rolled or folded slices of turkey onto the lettuce leaves.
Spread a dollop of mayonnaise on the turkey.
Sprinkle some of the shredded cheese on top of the mayonnaise.
Top the cheese with 2 or 3 avocado slices.
Grind fresh ground pepper over the top, if desired.
Repeat the previous steps to prepare the other three wraps.
Roll the wraps and secure with toothpicks, or leave them open.
Place the wraps in the refrigerator for a chilled sandwich. Otherwise, cut the wrap in half diagonally, and enjoy at room temperature.
