Cooktop Cove: Sprinkle cheese over sour cream & make this painless meal
By Robin Donovan
The only thing better than cold onion dip with ridged potato chips is this hot French onion dip cooked in the slow cooker. It’s rich, creamy, and loaded with onion flavor. Gruyere cheese makes it irresistibly gooey.
Serve this dip with potato chips, toast points, or crackers. If you really want to make an impression, leave the extra ½ cup of gruyere out of the dip before cooking. Once it has been slow cooked, transfer the dip to a baking dish, sprinkle the remaining gruyere over the top, and run it under the broiler for a few minutes, until the cheese bubbles and turns golden brown. This is guaranteed to be the hit of any party.
