Cooktop Cove: Bet you didn't know you're just five minutes away from a delicious honey mug cake

Mug cakes are just about the simplest way to whip up a single serving of a tasty dessert. The only tools you’ll need are a mug, a spoon and a microwave! Plus, the whole thing takes only five minutes to create, start to finish. And it takes the same number of dishes as a cup of tea with honey!
The secret to a good mug cake is to know how long to let it “bake” in your microwave. All microwaves are different, and you don’t want this to over-bake, so the best thing to do is make a conservative estimation (like 1 minute) and check on the cake regularly until you see it spring back from a gentle poke of the finger.

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons honey
1 egg, at room temperature
½ teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons self-rising flour
1 pinch salt
Add the butter and honey to the mug, and microwave for 30 seconds or until melted.
Once the mixture is melted and has cooled slightly, add the egg, vanilla, and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth.
Add the flour and salt, and mix until well-combined with minimal lumps.
Microwave the mug on high for 1 minute before checking.
Test the cake by pressing gently on the top. It should spring back slightly. If it doesn't, continue to microwave in 10-second intervals until it does. Serve immediately.
