Barbecue is a staple cuisine in many cultures around the world. The art of slow cooking meats over a fire or in a smoker has been perfected over generations and has created some of the most mouthwatering dishes imaginable. One such dish is Dr Pepper Pork Ribs, a savory and sweet dish that is perfect for any barbecue occasion. The use of Dr Pepper in this recipe provides a unique flavor that sets it apart from other traditional barbecue ribs.
Growing up in Texas, I was no stranger to barbecue. My family and I would often spend our weekends at local BBQ joints trying out new dishes and perfecting our own recipes. One day, my dad came across a recipe for Dr Pepper Pork Ribs and decided to give it a try. It was a hit with our family and friends, and we have been making it ever since. The combination of sweet and savory flavors from the Dr Pepper and barbecue sauce makes for a delicious and memorable meal that everyone loves. In this recipe, I'll share how to make these mouthwatering ribs in a slow cooker for a convenient and easy cooking method that results in fall-off-the-bone tender meat.
Dr Pepper Pork Ribs
Ingredients:
3-4 lbs of pork ribs
1 can of Dr Pepper
1/2 cup of BBQ sauce
1/2 cup of ketchup
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Remove the membrane from the back of the pork ribs and season them with salt and pepper.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the Dr Pepper, BBQ sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix well to combine.
3. Pour the mixture over the pork ribs, making sure that they are fully coated.
4. Place the ribs in a slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
5. After the cooking time is up, remove the ribs from the slow cooker and place them on a baking sheet.
6. Preheat your oven to broil.
7. Brush the ribs with some of the sauce from the slow cooker and place them under the broiler for 3-5 minutes, or until they are caramelized and crispy.
8. Serve the Dr Pepper Pork Ribs with the remaining sauce from the slow cooker and enjoy!
