Apple Cinnamon Pull-Apart BreadServings: 8-10 servings
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/3 cup whole milk
1/4 cup water
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 medium apples, peeled and finely chopped
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for filling)
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Directions
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
In a small saucepan, heat the butter, milk, and water until warm (about 110°F).
Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture, then add eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a glass baking dish.
Punch down the dough and roll it out into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter, then sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture and chopped apples.
Cut the dough into strips and stack them on top of each other. Cut the stack into smaller sections and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
While the bread is baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Drizzle the glaze over the warm bread before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a nutty twist, add a handful of chopped walnuts or pecans to the filling. You can also experiment with different types of apples for varying flavors and textures. If you prefer a richer dough, substitute some of the all-purpose flour with bread flour. For a more pronounced spice flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or cloves to the cinnamon-sugar mixture. To make this recipe vegan, use plant-based milk and butter substitutes, and replace eggs with a flaxseed or chia seed mixture.
