How to make slow cooker peanut butter chocolate cake (video)

Few flavors go together more perfectly than peanut butter and chocolate. The recipe below combines them in a moist cake topped with candy and glazed while still warm for a melty, delicious mess. I like to make this for game night when everyone lingers at the table and has plenty of time to savor.

Because this recipe uses chocolate cake mix as a base, the batter comes together in only five minutes. Feel free to use a dark chocolate, devil’s food or even gluten-free mix to customize this to your taste.

Slow Cooker Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake

3 eggs

1 box (15.5 ounces, 440 g) chocolate cake mix

1 cup (240 ml) water

1/2 cup (125 g) + 3 tablespoons (60 g) peanut butter, divided

1/3 cup (115 g) butter, melted

3 tablespoons (45 ml) milk

1 cup (160 g) powdered sugar

1 bag (8 ounces, 225 g) mini peanut butter cups OR 1 cup (175 g) chocolate chips

Mix eggs, cake mix, water, 1/2 cup peanut butter and butter together in a large bowl.

Line your slow cooker with a slow cooker liner.

Evenly spread batter into slow cooker. Line the top of your slow cooker with a few paper towel to absorb any excess liquid. Cover with lid and cook on high for 2 hours, 30 minutes.

Remove cake from slow cooker by lifting out the liner. Remove liner and place cake on a plate.

Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk remaining 3 tablespoons peanut butter with milk and powdered sugar until smooth. Pour glaze over cake and sprinkle peanut butter cups on top.

Serve warm.

Pro tip: Want even more chocolate goodness? Stir 1 cup of mini chocolate chips into the batter before cooking.
