I love tuna melts. And I like them a really specific way. Of course, there has to be a lot of tuna in them. And I prefer that they're topped with caramelized onions and tons of gooey cheese. Typically, I also like all of this piled in between slices of crispy rye bread, but sometimes I want something a little different. When that's the case, I make the recipe below.
It has all the goodness of tuna melts that I love so much and crave so often, but it is a perfect casserole that the whole family can enjoy. Pasta takes the place of the bread, and I add a few chives to brighten up the entire thing and give it a bit of freshness. All the other ingredients that make a tuna melt a tuna melt are still in there, including the onions and lots and lots of cheese. It's like one of my favorite casseroles meeting one of my favorite sandwiches.
