My oldest daughter whipped this up one chilly Tuesday when the day had gotten away from all of us. She called to say she was on her way over and, before I could even think about what to make, she had this in the oven. Just three ingredients I always seem to have on hand—chicken, cream cheese, and everything bagel seasoning—turned into the most rich, flavorful pan of baked chicken I’d had in ages. It’s the kind of no-fuss, weeknight recipe that fits right into our rural Midwestern rhythm: hearty, comforting, and practical, with a little modern twist that still feels like home.
This chicken is rich and creamy, so it loves simple, down-to-earth sides. I like to spoon the extra cheesy pan juices over fluffy white rice or buttered egg noodles. A pan of roasted green beans or broccoli, or even just a crisp lettuce salad with a tangy vinaigrette, helps balance the richness. Warm dinner rolls, cornbread, or a slice of crusty bread are perfect for soaking up the creamy sauce and crunchy everything seasoning that settles at the bottom of the dish.
Oven-Baked 3-Ingredient Cream Cheese Everything Chicken
Servings: 4

Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 pounds total)
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
3–4 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
Directions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a medium-sized white ceramic baking dish, just large enough to hold the chicken breasts in a single layer.
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Lay them side by side in the baking dish, leaving a little space between each piece so the heat can circulate.
Using a spoon or small spatula, spread a thick, even layer of softened cream cheese over the top of each chicken breast. It doesn’t have to be perfect—just make sure the tops are well covered so the cream cheese can melt and turn gooey in the oven.
Sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning generously over the cream cheese–covered chicken. Aim for a good, even coating so you get plenty of that crunchy black-and-white sesame, garlic, and onion on every bite.
Place the baking dish on the middle rack of the preheated oven. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches 165°F in the thickest part. The cream cheese should be melted, bubbling around the edges, and the seasoning lightly toasted on top.
If you’d like a little extra color and crunch, switch the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes at the end, watching closely so the topping doesn’t burn. Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest in the hot dish for about 5 minutes to allow the juices to settle.
Serve the chicken directly from the baking dish, spooning some of the melted cream cheese and seasoned pan juices over each piece. Enjoy while hot, with the gooey cream cheese and crunchy everything topping front and center.
Variations & Tips
If your chicken breasts are very thick, you can slice them in half horizontally so they cook more quickly and evenly; just reduce the baking time slightly and keep an eye on them. For a milder flavor, use 3 tablespoons of everything bagel seasoning; for a bolder, saltier bite, go closer to 4 tablespoons. If your seasoning blend is very salty, you may want to use the lower amount or choose a low-sodium brand. To make cleanup easier, line the baking dish with parchment before adding the chicken. You can also cut the cream cheese into slices straight from the block if you forgot to soften it—lay the slices over the chicken and they’ll melt together in the oven. Leftovers reheat nicely in a low oven, covered with foil, until warmed through; they’re wonderful sliced over a green salad or tucked into a warm sandwich bun the next day.
