These slow cooker sweet fire meatballs are the kind of easy, crowd-pleasing recipe that saves the day when you need something simple for a party, potluck, game night, or a laid-back summer get-together. Using just four ingredients keeps prep wonderfully low, while the mix of sweet jelly and spicy sriracha creates that sticky, glossy sauce that makes everyone come back for one more meatball.

Serve these meatballs warm right from the slow cooker with toothpicks for an easy appetizer, or spoon them over steamed rice for a simple supper. They also pair nicely with macaroni salad, coleslaw, corn on the cob, or a crisp veggie tray if you are putting together a summer spread. For drinks, cold lemonade, iced tea, or sparkling water all work well with the sweet and spicy flavor.

Ingredients

1 bag (32 ounces) frozen fully cooked beef meatballs

1 cup grape jelly
3/4 cup chili sauce
2 to 4 tablespoons sriracha chili sauce

Directions

1. Add the frozen meatballs to the slow cooker. Spoon the grape jelly and chili sauce over the top, then squeeze on the sriracha chili sauce.

2. Stir gently until the meatballs are evenly coated as much as possible. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours, stirring once or twice during cooking, until the sauce is smooth and the meatballs are heated through.

3. Once the sauce is thick, glossy, and clinging to the meatballs, switch the slow cooker to warm for serving. Stir again before serving and add a little extra sriracha if you want more heat.

Variations & Tips

Milder version: If you are serving kids or anyone who does not love much heat, start with just 1 tablespoon of sriracha. You can always set out extra on the side for those who want a spicier bite.

Extra spicy: For more kick, increase the sriracha a tablespoon at a time or add a pinch of red pepper flakes near the end of cooking. This is a nice way to make one batch and adjust the heat to your family’s taste.

Make it a meal: These meatballs are terrific spooned over rice, buttered noodles, or even tucked into slider buns. If I am feeding a hungry crowd, I like to pair them with simple sides so the slow cooker can do most of the work.

Sauce tip: Give the sauce a good stir once or twice during cooking so the jelly melts evenly and everything blends into a smooth glaze. If the sauce seems thinner than you like at the end, leave the lid cracked for a few minutes on warm to help it thicken a bit more.

Party tip: Keep a small spoon nearby for stirring and serve the meatballs right from the slow cooker to keep them warm throughout the gathering. Toothpicks or small appetizer forks make them especially easy to grab.
