This 4-ingredient slow cooker beef is the kind of dinner I lean on when the week gets busy but I still want something hearty and homemade on the table. Using raw beef country-style ribs, a few pantry staples, and the slow cooker does all the heavy lifting, you end up with tender, flavorful beef that tastes like you worked much harder than you did. It has that classic comfort-food feel that fits right in with easy Midwestern family dinners.

Serve this beef over mashed potatoes, buttered egg noodles, or fluffy rice to soak up all the rich sauce. It also pairs really well with simple green beans, roasted carrots, a side salad, or even warm dinner rolls if you want to make the meal stretch for a hungry family.

Ingredients

3 to 4 pounds raw beef country-style ribs

1 packet dry onion soup mix
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup

Directions

1. Lightly coat the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick spray if desired, then arrange the raw beef country-style ribs in an even layer in the bottom.

2. In a medium bowl, stir together the dry onion soup mix, barbecue sauce, and condensed cream of mushroom soup until combined.

3. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the beef, making sure the ribs are well coated.

4. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours, until the beef is very tender and easy to pull apart with a fork.

5. Gently spoon the beef and sauce onto plates and serve hot with your favorite sides.

Variations & Tips

Make It Sweeter: If your family likes a sweeter barbecue flavor, use a honey or brown sugar barbecue sauce for a slightly richer finish.

Add Extra Flavor: A little garlic powder or black pepper can be mixed into the sauce even though the base recipe keeps things wonderfully simple.

For Easy Cleanup: Slow cooker liners can be a lifesaver on busy weekdays and make this already easy recipe even more convenient.

How to Store Leftovers: Store cooled beef in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It reheats well and is especially good piled onto sandwich buns the next day.

Best Texture Tip: If you want a thicker sauce at the end, remove the cooked beef, then let the sauce sit uncovered on high for a few minutes or stir in a small cornstarch slurry before serving.
